New York’s Fashion Week begins September 8th, which I’m sure a lot of people are really anticipating. This is the fashion industry’s way of showing their favorite pieces which they hope to become popular trends – for prestige and sales (and continued, or new, success). Not long after any of the major fashion weeks around the world, the designs will have trickled down to something you can buy in your favorite clothing store at the mall.
On the evening of the first day of Fashion Week, another smaller show will be going on elsewhere in the city. This is (Sustainable) Fashion’s Night Out, during which Eco-friendly, fair trade clothing will be sold. The featured brands are Erin Considine, Kaelyn Garcia, Afia, Love is Mighty, Digs, Global Goods, and Of Rags – all of which I am going to review in the coming days. I really wish I could be there! If you’re interested, visit the website here.
The show is being hosted in part by the NYC Fair Trade Coalition. Please go read their Mission and definition of Fair Trade. If you are in New York City, check out the other events that they host too! Isn’t it so exciting to find out that such an organization exists?
